THREE THINGS

March 11, 2013

ONE  |  Don't you love running into a piece that becomes an instant favorite by chance? That's what happened when I was cruising Target the other day, purchasing exciting daily life necessities like Method counter spray. Another shopper happened to abandon this chambray shirt in the cleaning aisle and it caught my eye. Fast forward to me racing through the clothing section, searching for the shirt in my size, in the dressing room, and this baby was in my cart in rapid time. I've had it one week and I won't admit how many times I've worn it since purchasing. The fit reminds me of the lighter version of this closet favorite mentioned here.

TWO  |  Did you guys know I'm a Stella & Dot Independent Stylist? I love their jewelry and being able to share it with other people is so easy that becoming one was a no brainer. I picked up this Rebel Pendant and I'm wearing it with everything. The long length makes it perfect to layer with shorter necklaces, it dresses up a casual v-neck tee + jeans, and I receive lots of compliments whenever I wear it. PS - shop the trunk show for a chance to win a free piece from me!

THREE  |  Whether you call them investment pieces or just smart purchases, a good leather bag is a closet staple that gets better with age. When completing an inventory of my closet, I noticed I have a dark brown, a black, my beloved burgundy bag, but not a nice medium tan. I think this one would be a great fit.

Seen anything lately you just adore?

  1. love the random "see something in the wrong aisle and have to hunt everywhere to find it" adventures that so frequently happen at target... almost as much as i love a good chamray shirt. i actually just got a maison scotch chambray dress i'm so excited to wear all summer as well (once the snow melts!)! that necklace is awesome too - had no idea you were an S&D stylist!

  3. I'm so indecisive when it comes to a leather investment bag. I'm several months into looking. Hopefully I'll settle on something soon.

  4. Oh, I need a chambray dress now! Yes, I signed up with S&D back in January. I've mostly been gathering pieces, but I'm amazed at all the really trendy pieces they have, and how versatile they all are. I have one necklace that you can wear four different ways!

  5. I visited it in the store the other day - the leather is so buttery!

  6. It's hard. It took me forever to decide on my black one, but I've had it for about six years now, so I think I chose correctly. You'll figure it out!

  9. I don't think I got my first one until I was around 25. I saved and saved for it, which made it even more special. It wasn't anything major, a Cole Haan, but it still looks great to this day!

  10. You and me both! Trying to keep with my budget this month...love your blog, by the way!

  11. I just spent far too much time reading that post (and all the comments) on investment pieces/smart purchases - really interesting thoughts! I love that pendant necklace and might have to pick it up if it fits in the budget this month. I have a feeling I would wear it all the time!

  17. Wasn't Fran's post amazing? So many people coming from different backgrounds with thoughts about what it means versus what it doesn't.

If you're interested in the pendant, let me know :) The trunk show runs for another two weeks. I adore mine (not just because I'm a stylist).

  23. omg I didn't even notice that you linked that even though I read it like normal. you are cute.

I think I'm going with staples that are smart purchases. That makes me less anxious about "investing" :)

  26. I just bought my first "investment purse" by Michael Kors -- the tan Bedford shoulder bag -- and I love it. I'd definitely recommend that style, but the one you've chosen is luscious.

  27. That's a good one! Really classic shape. My brown one is of similar structure...I think at this point in my life (working from home, casual clothing) the slouchy style might suit me better. I love both - you can never go wrong with Michael Kors :)

  28. That's true! I don't know what about spring makes me crave all things chambray, light blue, and tan!

  29. I need, need, need a chambray shirt. And I'm actually looking for a tan bag. I think that's going to be my next major purchase.

  30. Lauren, I also just got a chambray shirt from Target and love it! Now I keep seeing others that are so much more expensive, and I feel like I got away with something. :) That bag is lovely, by the way. Big enough to keep everything in but not big enough to be annoyingly luggage-like. Love!

  31. Thanks for sharing this necklace, just something what I'm looking for. :)
