Nars Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder

ONE  |  This batik pattern on this pillow reminds me of summer. I love the ombre effect and the dark inky blue on luxe silk. I might have to pick up a pair for our living room since summer weather's not coming to San Francisco any time soon.

TWO  |  Speaking of sunny weather, I love a good pair of sunglasses. I've been rocking the same pair of Cole Haan aviators for approximately four years now ( invest once, wear forever ) but I think I'm ready to add a retro oversized pair like these to the rotation. These come in lots of colors, but I like the leopard most.

THREE  |  I picked up this NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder on a total whim, but it's turned out to be one of the best beauty buys I've made! I dubbed it "Photoshop Powder" because it has a "blurriness" to it when you brush it over your skin. It hides redness, pores, and the reflective quality gives your skin a nice "lit from within" glow, sort of like your favorite Instagram filter or Photoshop action. I can't say enough good things about this powder, which I hope is a strong endorsement since I've always been firmly anti-powder.

  3. Gorgeous sunglasses! I don't think they'd look good on my face shape, but I can still wish for them, right?

  5. I think I need this "Photoshop powder" - have you tried the Makeup Forever HD powder? It sounds similar and I wonder how they compare.

When it says "light reflecting" does it mean that your face looks all glittery, or obvious that you're wearing makeup?

  6. Let me know what you think! I love it! And I hate powder!

  7. Of course! I am also loving my Benji Frank pair! It filled the Wayfarer style I was hoping to add to my collection.

  8. Thanks Emily! It was a long time coming, but I'm so happy to have it complete!

  9. I have tried the Makeup Forever and I like this one better - it's a bit finer and silkier, and blends better. I am sort of pale, but the MFHD left some obvious white splotches on me that I couldn't blend away.

And no glitter. I used to wear a Cover Girl loose powder in middle school that had tons of glitter in it, and never understood why my face looked oily. And thus, added more powder. Vicious cycle!

  11. It is a splurge, but I literally use a tiny sprinkle of it for my entire face...I think it will last a while!

  13. want want and want! Everyone is raving about that NARS powder so I might have to check it out. i'm pretty loyal to Guerlain meteorites which has a similar effect but the NARS comes in a compact version too which is something I could def use for travel!

  14. Of course! I have to share when I find something so good!

  15. I've never tried the meteorites - mostly because I grew up in a small town where Guerlain was not available at the cosmetics counter! I couldn't tell a major difference on my own face in the mirror after putting this on, but when I took a photo of myself I noticed a BIG difference!

  19. Lauren, I'm definitely going to check out your tried and true aviators! I left my sunglasses somewhere in Puerto Rico and have been on the hunt for a new pair ever since. And that powder is definitely making its way to my makeup bag before any new style posts go up on my blog this spring.

  20. I have! Excited about her launch! In her sneak peeks of the studio, I spied a black and white splotchy pattern and an indigo pattern I've got my eye on.

  21. I tried the Ray-Ban classic aviators and they always looked a little weird on my face...the Cole Haan ones kind of curve backward with your head, versus sitting flat across the front. If that makes sense?

Can't wait for more style posts from you!

  22. Love those sunnies! I am a new believer in the idea of sunglass investments - BOY what a difference nice sunnies make!
