A LITTLE THOUGHT

January 9, 2013

Welcome to 2013. I realize we're 9 days in, but since I'm just now returning from my holiday travels, today is the day my New Year feels like it's officially begun.

When I sat down to think about my goals this year, one word was consistent across many of them.

Simplify.

As a creative individual, I'm wired to just go, go, go, and be doing, doing, doing. All of this has it perks, but at the end of the day, does it leave me fulfilled?

Mostly, no.

In 2013, I've resolved to simplify all aspects of my life. Wardrobe, diet, home, job; it's all up for examination.

It means saying yes to projects that make me excited, and finding ways to create more of those opportunities.

It means finally being okay with only liking a limited color palette in my wardrobe - with plenty of silhouettes and textures to keep it interesting.

It means having one amazing vase instead of ten so-so options.

The easiest place for me to start is, naturally, my wardrobe. When you're traveling, I think you really learn what you need, and what you don't need. Since I spent the last month living out of a suitcase, returning home has provided me with a much needed reality check. Though I've already cleaned out my closet, I plan to shed even more. And that hall closet and all of the nooks and crannies in this place will be examined, too. The tides are shifting a bit, and I think we're all coming to realize we can do more with less.

How's your 2013 shaping up?

PS, if you're looking for a good way to simplify your closet, try selling on Poshmark! It's free to download and easy to sell your old clothes to make money. I'm hosting another party in the app tonight at 7:00 PM PST. See you there?
